Children of Njord

For the past 10 years, Olivier's lens have roamed the soul of Northern Norway surfers,  an enclave above the Arctic Circle during winters, amid ice cold waves, I saw them as contemporary children of Njord, the Viking ocean God. This unique community reveals a symbiotic relationship between humanity and nature. It's channeling the ancient spirit of Njord in a modern arctic tale in the roughness of nature. Because black and white photography transcends time, here is a visual poem and a tribute speaking to those who dare to ride the frigid waves, embracing their roles as custodians of Njord legacy in the far reaches of Northern Norway, the land of their fathers, cold an intense.
